Famously two of the four style capitals in the world, London and New York host their own fashion weeks each spring, packed with shows from celebrated designers to school us on what we’ll be wearing come autumn/winter.
As with every other part of our wardrobes, we always pick up some trend inspiration for our good old shoe rack to help us get ahead of the fashion curve.
Though most of us won’t spend thousands of pounds on a new footwear purchase, there’s no reason you can’t style some quality, cheap heels with the same panache as Mary Katrantzou’s models wear theirs.
Taking a super-exclusive look from the runways and recreating it for a fraction of the price is what we’d call a Style Win – or StyleWyn if you will!
Read on for our top trend picks and how to recreate them in 2018.
All Eyes on Pointed Boots
From Delpozo and Mary Katrantzou to Tory Burch and Tibi, plenty of catwalks put a focus on pointed boots in their new-season designs. Undeniably sophisticated, this style will make you feel incredible and they will be right at home in your workwear wardrobe.
Partner yours with black tailored trousers and a white silky shirt for the ultimate in power dressing that packs a stylish punch.

Embellishment is Still Centre Stage
Frill or gem embellishment has become a key, on-trend option for updating your jeans, tops, shoes – pretty much everything – over the past few years. This season is following suit but detailing is even more extravagant so the heels will need to take centre stage in your outfit.
Take the opportunity to add some A-lister allure to skinny jeans and a tee, and accessorise with sequinned shoe boots.
Mary Janes are the Classics That Keep on Giving
Named after a comic book character who was around in the early 20th century, the enduring power of Mary Jane shoes is unbelievable.
These days though you’re more likely to see heeled or platform styles, luxe fabrics like suede and intricate buckle detailing.
Make like it’s the 1920s – flapper girls wore Mary Janes as part of their girlish attire – and wear yours to a fancy restaurant with a slinky wiggle dress and a fur coat.

Slingbacks are Back
Slingbacks were particularly popular in the 1950s thanks to brands like Chanel, and in the hands of nostalgic designers they’re living again in 2018.
Gracing the catwalks of Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and Derek Lam to name just a few, runway styles were very feminine and bright; either with sequins, patent finishes or vibrant prints.
Reach for embellished options with gem detailing and team them with a bodycon dress for a look that exudes vintage glamour.

The Ones You’ll Want to Skip
During Fashion Week there is always at least one designer who launches something wild, that we think the most daring follower of fashion wouldn’t dare to wear.
While you can definitely buy stylish orthopaedic shoes to keep your feet supported and feeling comfy, we’re not sure that Christopher Kane’s is an approach we will be sporting!
