5-things-to-do-with-your-summmer-holidaysIt’s that time of year again – the summer is now upon us and before you know it there will be peace and quiet on the morning commute…

havoc for those of us with kids breaking up for a long 6 week holiday!

If the mere thought of this is sending you into panic overload take a deep breath and don’t worry – we’ve compiled a list!

Below are 5 ideas that should make the summer holidays plain sailing for you. From rainy days to summer sun we’ve covered all bases so read on to find out what you could be doing this summer.

1) Take the Kids Abroad

Go Abroad

A holiday abroad can be a fantastic break for the whole family and, if you pick the right destination, will ensure you get some sun this summer. The downside of going abroad during the summer is that pretty much everyone else wants to do the same thing though so this can get pretty expensive. To limit the cost either book well in advance or, if you haven’t had a chance, look for discounts on late deals sites where you can often pick up a great bargain. Also, don’t forget to pick up your holiday footwear at Wynsors.com where you are always guaranteed a bargain!

2) Visit Britain’s Best Beaches

BeachIf you can’t afford to go abroad this year there’s still no excuse for not having a day out at the beach. Okay, some of Britain’s beaches leave a lot to be desired, but there are still plenty of lovely beaches that are perfect for a summer day. Make sure you get the kids kitted out with a good pair of beach shoes in plenty of time so you’re ready to head off as soon as the sun makes an appearance. We stock a range of flip flops for the whole family, as well as beach shoes for the children. You will also need a good sized beach bag for you to cram full of the essentials before you go!

3) Prepare For Rainy Days

Rainy Summer DaysAlthough we don’t really want to mention this subject for fear of jinxing it, it’s a sad fact that there are bound to be a few rainy, miserable days over the summer. However, if you face up to this fact now and get yourself prepared there is nothing to stop you embracing the sour weather and still having fun. It’s a good idea to make sure everyone has a decent pair of wellies throughout the year. As well as being invaluable during the winter months wellies are perfect for slipping on the kids for a rainy summer day walk, or for taking on that camping trip where muddy fields could be a possibility. You may also want to get yourself a good umbrella! It’s a good idea to make sure you are stocked up with games, books and dvds for when a rainy day comes around, particularly if you have younger children who are less likely to want to go out in wet weather.

4) Plan a Day Trip

Plan a Day TripThis could be anything from a full theme park day out to a picnic in the local park. Or even planning a good day walking, you can get tips on some excellent walking ideas (and how to get the kids engaged!) here. Get a trip planned early and the whole family will be looking forward to it by the time you go. There are plenty of family-friendly day festivals around the UK that would be a good option, or why not take everyone on an overnight camping trip? This can be a perfect way to escape for a couple of days without having to put too much planning in. If you’re struggling for ideas take a look at Visit England’s website for a comprehensive list of what will be going on in the UK this summer.

5) Have a Barbeque

Have a BBQLast, but by no means least, what better excuse to have a barbeque than beautiful summer days? We Brits are known for lighting the coals at the first hint of sunshine and then freezing outside whilst we eat hastily burnt sausages, or possibly finishing the cooking inside because it has turned too cold our wet. On a lovely sunny day, there is nothing better than a British barbeque though and it’s a great way to keep the kids entertained!
