Kickers Shoes. The youth brand Kickers was created nearly 40 years ago. In 1970, Daniel Raufast discovered the poster for the musical ‘Hair’. Intrigued by all the barefooted youngsters wearing jeans, he developed Kickers, a new shoe concept more compatible with the blue-jean generation. The designer Jacques Chevallereau then created the first ‘jean boot’ the use of nubuck, shapes that looked more like short boots than regular shoes, and other techniques obviously referencing denim ensured a truly distinctive design. At a time when manufacturers only offered traditional and conformist footwear, the Kickers multicoloured nubuck high shoes revolutionised the industry and became extremely popular. The success of Kickers was such that within just one season, Kickers production capacity soared from 300 to 12,000 pairs per month, the Kickers ‘lifestyle’ concept was born.Over the years, Kickers has been heavily associated with the music industry. When the Kickers ‘Kick Hi’ boot was released in 1975, members of the rock royalty of this era from Roger Daltry to Elton John and David Bowie all famously donned the Kickers boot. It was the late Eighties and early Nineties that Kickers really gained popularity when Kick Hi’s were heralded by icons on the Manchester music scene. Ian Brown famously kicked off the trend by wearing a pair of Kickers to The Haçienda as a cheeky retort to the strict 'no trainer policy'. Other famous artists who are known admirers of Kickers include Ms Dynamite, So Solid Crew, Jarvis Cocker, Noel Gallagher, Mike Skinner and Arctic Monkeys.
