Wynsors to Help Triathlon Hopeful

Wynsors World of shoes has donated much needed funds to help local girl, 17 year old Charlotte Edwards, pictured above receiving a cheque from Marketing Manager David Buchanan, work towards realising her dream of competing for a gold medal in one of the most gruelling events to take place at the London Olympic games, the Triathlon. The event starts with a 1500m swim then a 40km bike ride and to top it all off a 10k run. For most of us any one of those would be challenge enough but Charlotte intends to do all 3 and be up there competing for a medal!

Having only taken up the sport a little over a year ago she is already making her mark with a 3rd place in her first event and a host of 1st and 2nd places ever since. She has also smashed her way in to the British Biathle (Run/Swim/Run) team with a hard fought 4th place after being denied the bronze medal by a mere 4 seconds after being in 2nd place until just 200m from the end of the second run.

This is not a cheap sport and travelling to events as well as equipment has to come from the competitor. Even the Great Britain tracksuit has to be bought by Charlotte! She has also been selected by the Great Britain team to compete this weekend to in a Biathle in Cape Town South Africa. And guess who is paying? That's right Charlotte and her very understanding and supportive Dad, Michael. Charlotte clearly has the talent to go far and does not have any support from Sport England until she breaks in to the elite category so if you do want to help with a donation towards helping this very committed young lady achieve her dream and represent our country in 2012 then please contact us via the Wynsors helpdesk and we can put you in contact with her.
