Wynsors has created around 15 new jobs in Wakefield with the opening of its new Stanley Road store.
The Wakefield branch of Wynsors, along with a further new store opening later in the month in Chester, will bring the total number of stores operated by the North West company up to 36 – and the company is also actively looking for more sites.
The news comes a week after two footwear retailers, Barratts and PriceLess Shoes, revealed that more than 5,000 of its jobs were under threat in the UK after their parent company was placed into administration.
Wynsors, which is based in Bacup, Lancashire, specialises in affordable footwear and branded sports and fashion styles at great prices, and has stores throughout Greater Manchester, the North East, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside and Cheshire.
The company says its ability to offer value for money is the reason it is expanding during a challenging time for the economy.
Mark Richardson, MD of Wynsors said: “As the recession continues, Wynsors is in a good position to weather the storm by providing great value for money and an affordable footwear solution for people of all ages and tastes.
“We believe we are the only footwear retailer which is expanding at the moment – and we feel it’s important to reassure people that we’re still here, and we’re working hard to constantly create new jobs and great offers to help boost business in the North .”
Wynsors also operates an online shop from its website, www.wynsors.com, where shoppers can find the latest styles at affordable prices.
Wynsors’ Wakefield store will open on Thursday 5th March, and the Chester store will open later in the month.
