Wynsors’ special delivery to Kosovo
Wynsors World of Shoes has sent a lorry-load of shoes to Kosovan families in need.
Wynsors has joined forces with Hope and Aid Direct for the third time to send a total of 2,000 pairs of shoes and trainers to needy Balkans families along with food, clothes, bedding and toys supplied by other companies and donors.
Hope and Aid Direct was set up to provide humanitarian aid after the Balkans war in 1999 and is run by volunteers.
The shoes were loaded onto a lorry this week at Wynsors’ head office in Bacup, before joining around nine other wagons to transport 80 tonnes of aid to Kosovo, where more than 350,000 people live in extreme poverty
Steve Walsh, Hope and Aid Direct trustee, said: “Incredibly, there are still children in Europe who do not have shoes. Wynsors – particularly Danny Doherty - have been instrumental in helping these unfortunate people over the last three years. Thank you to everyone at Wynsors for your help.”
Danny Doherty, Wynsors’ warehouse manager, said: “We’re proud to be part of this incredible humanitarian aid effort – the work Hope and Aid Direct carries out in the Balkans is inspiring, and we’ll do anything we can to support them.”
The convoy set off to Kosovo in early May. For more information, visit www.hopeandaiddirect.co.uk
