Triplets Dad steps out for kids charity run
A father of triplets will raise money for a children’s charity when he takes part in this month’s Great North Run. Dennis Farrell, who works as an Area Manager for Wynsors World of Shoes, will run the half marathon to raise money for the NSPCC. Keen runner Dennis completed the Bupa Manchester 10k Race earlier this year, raising £400 for charity. He has shed more than a stone in preparation for his latest challenge.
Father-of-four Dennis added: “I chose the NSPCC as my charity because I have children myself – six-year-old triplets girls and another daughter who is eight. I wanted to do something for less fortunate children than them who need our help.” He said: “I’ve been doing a bit of training for this one as it’s so much further than my last race. I’m up to seven-and-a-half miles in my training runs, I go to the gym regularly and I play squash twice a week too.”
Dennis hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity, and has already received a generous donation of over £100 from his employers at Wynsors. Wynsors managing director Mark Richardson said: “On behalf of everyone at Wynsors, I’d like to wish Dennis good luck in his run – it’s a great cause and we’re pleased to help him on his way to reach his fundraising target.”
