Terry embarks on coast-to-coast charity challenge
A Blackburn man will walk 197 miles in 10 days to raise money for his daughters’ dance troupe.
Terry Moorby will embark on a coast-to-coast walk from Hornsby, in the Yorkshire Dales, to Blackpool at the end of this month to raise money to buy the Hyndburn Comets Majorettes a new bus.
Terry, 59, aims to cover a minimum of 20 miles a day to hit his target of completing the walk in 10 days. Thanks to a donation our Blackburn store, he’ll be kitted out in style to tackle his charity challenge – we have donated a pair of top-of-the-range walking boots to help Terry on his way. Terry decided to raise money for the Comets as his daughters Jonaya, Tonicha and Mollie are members. The Comets will send Terry off on his walk, and other dance troupes from across the North will join him for sections of the journey.
Terry, who won the Premier Dance Association personality of the year 2009, will be camping out during his ten-day trek. He said: “I’ve been training hard over the last few months, walking five miles a day and doing an hour and a half a day on the cross trainer in my local gym. I’m hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Comets.”
The route will take Terry from Hornsby to Beverley, onto Selby, through Leeds North, along the Leeds South section of the canal then to Walton Summit, before he reaches his final destination of Blackpool.
