Sports achiever Luke Wood Hopes for Olympic Glory in 2012
Wynsors World of Shoes has backed the Greater Manchester Sports Awards for two years running, each year supporting the 'Sports Achiever of the Year' category at the event which celebrates the best of community sport in the county. Wynsors work with SponsorBank who coordinate our sponsorship support, and we work closely with the GreaterSport, the County Sports Partnership for Greater Manchester to ensure our continued involvement.
At the recent Awards, the winner was Luke Wood, pictured here with Sarah Storey MBE, who has just achieved Gold at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics. Luke is one of Greater Manchester's finest up and coming athletes, and works hard at his chosen sport of swimming. Luke, from Salford won the 'Sports Achiever of the Year Award' sponsored by Wynsors World of Shoes for his unbelieveable dedication to sport, getting into the pool at 5.15am for his 30 mile a week training sessions. At the recent National Speedo Final, he broke a ten year record for 100 metre backstroke in the Under 15's category. He has been selected to attend a training camp on the Gold Coast Australia and is looking towards the London 2012 Olympics as his next goal.
